The Dassault Falcon 900 is a tri-jet corporate jet aircraft made by Dassault Aviation in France. It is a development of the Falcon 50, itself a development of the earlier Falcon 20. On September 21, 1984, the F900 took its first flight, and production began in 1987. The Falcon 900 was designed as a bigger, faster, longer, range version of the Falcon 50. It is 5.5 feet longer, with a taller tail and longer wing. It also holds 544 additional gallons of fuel allowing it to go 700 nautical miles further than its predecessor. The jet is powered by three Honeywell TFE731-5AR engines with 4,500 pounds of thrust each. Production of the Falcon 900 ended in 1999, with a total of 177 aircraft being built. All but one of the jets remain in production today. 10% of the fleet is currently for sale on the market, where they will spend an average of 483 days. North America operates the largest percentage of Falcon 900 jets with 69%, while Europe holds 17%.
